Tom got his start in Life Insurance in 1974 and has been in the insurance business ever since. He has been at Hallmark since 1981 and has had a very enjoyable career. “It is very satisfying to help people and that is the core of what we do,” said Tom. Tom currently splits time between Flint and Redington Beach, FL . He and his wife Lu can often be found soaking up the sun on the Gulf Coast beaches. Tom enjoys spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Matt was born and raised Metro-Detroit and is a proud graduate of Michigan State University (Go Green!).  He happened into insurance with Auto-Owners Insurance Company just four months after graduation.  Matt spent 10 years with Auto-Owners in Lansing, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City before joining Hallmark in early 2014.  “I truly enjoy finding insurance solutions for all of my personal and business customers, and I strongly believe that the independent agency model is the superior way to purchase and sell insurance.  I’m proud that our Hallmark team takes real pride in being our customers trusted advisor for their risk management needs.  In my spare time I love hanging out with my wife Stephanie and chasing our 2.5 year old twins, Tyson & Stella, all over the place.  Beyond that I love good food, travel and sports … did I say Go Green yet?!” said Matt.

Rhonda was born and raised in Clio, MI. She got her start in insurance as a bookkeeper at a different independent insurance agency. “I’ve been at Hallmark now for 22 years. It has been a great place to work since the beginning and continues to be so today. We work with great people and strive to provide great service to our customers,” said Rhonda. Rhonda enjoys spending her time with friends, family, scrapbooking and crafting.

Sherry is from Clio, Michigan. Her career in insurance began in 1990, an entry level position as a file clerk for an independent agency in Flushing. She became a personal lines CSR in the summer of 1990. Sherry has been with Hallmark for over eighteen years. “What I love most about my job is helping people to understand what they are purchasing and being able to offer coverages that they don’t currently have while saving them money. What I love about Hallmark has always been the people I work with, the great bosses and the friendly work environment,” said Sherry. She has three sons and a dog named Molly. When she isn’t working you will find her spending time with friends and her family.

Laura was born in Minnesota, and at age 21 moved to Los Angeles. There she worked for a mortgage company affiliated with an insurance agency where she spent all day every day typing quotes. Laura attended school to become a licensed agent and has loved her work every since. Twenty-five years ago Laura moved to Michigan and went to work for Farmers and State Farm Insurance companies. Seven years ago she began working at the Hallmark Agency “ I really enjoy working with people and like insurance in general. The agency is a great place to work, we have a wonderful team that makes coming to work enjoyable,” said Laura. She has two children, two stepsons, 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Laura is a talented scrapbooker, enjoys gardening and working with the youth at her church. If you enjoy car shows, be sure to look for Laura and her husband. Attending car shows is one of the joys of their life together!

Deborah got her start in insurance by responding to an ad for a Customer Service Representative in the early 90’s. Deborah has been a part of the Hallmark team since October 2007. She and her husband are Michigan natives. They’ve lived in the Fenton area for more than 20 years and just recently moved to Grand Blanc. Deborah enjoys the company of their two children and four grandchildren. If you need any tips when visiting Charleston, South Carolina, ask Deborah! She and her husband love to travel their to enjoy the beauty, history and the amazing Low Country food of the area.

Bobbie‘s introduction to the insurance industry came as a receptionist at an agency in 2000. She then moved into a processing position and then to a CSR position. “I have been at Hallmark for over three years and enjoy working at Hallmark because it is a hometown agency that takes pride in helping and insuring local families and businesses,” said Bobbie. She is married and has a son. They enjoy wonderful outdoor Michigan activities such as camping, boating, and snowmobiling. You can also find Bobbie riding on the back of her husband’s Harley.

Lori started working as a correspondence clerk at Mass Mutual Life Insurance in 1982 through a referral from a friend. Lori has been working at Hallmark for over 12 years. “Some of our clients have been with Hallmark even longer. To me that says a lot about our reputation in the community,” said Lori. Lori has two grown children and two grandsons who are the joy of her life! The family are all avid game players and all enjoy board games, video games, card games. Lori is the official scorekeeper for “Friday Night Magic” at a gaming shop in Fenton.

Doris has lived in Flint all of her life. She gives credit to her sister for getting her into insurance work starting in 1989. Doris has always worked in customer service of some kind. “ I like it because it’s easy for me to talk to people and I like helping them. Hallmark has been very good to me, great management and co-workers. How do you like that for kissing up? Actually, I mean it,” said Doris. She is from a large family and has seventy-seven first cousins. She is one of eight siblings, and has three sons and four grandchildren. Doris is a dedicated dog lover!

Jean grew up in Hemlock, Michigan and attended Hemlock High School. The
day after she graduated Jean began a full time job at an insurance agency in Saginaw, Michigan. She loves working with our clients and helping them with their insurance needs. “Many have been with us for years, they feel like family. At Hallmark we work as a team, can assist each other’s clients and get to know their businesses. I have been working for Hallmark for 26 years, and they also are like family,” said Jean. She has been married for 30 years to her wonderful husband Don. They have two children and two grand dogs, Duke who is an English Bulldog and Harley a Chocolate Lab. Jean is very involved in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she teaches two evenings a week.

Barb is from Flint and graduated from Carman/Ainsworth High School. A local insurance agent, Peter Van Hoorn, was looking for office help, and hired Barb the day she graduated from high school. “Working for Hallmark has been very enjoyable. The clients and fellow employees are great. As far as how long I have been here, well let’s say I’m the senior employee,” said Barb. She now lives in Waterford with her dog and enjoys following the Detroit sports teams.

Michelle has worked at Hallmark Agency for thirteen years as our receptionist.  “I enjoy working at Hallmark because they are a company that really cares about their employees and their customers,” said Michele.  She is a mother of two and grandmother of one.  Michele’s favorite thing to do is to be at the lake on her pontoon boat with her family.

Jim grew up in Roscommon, MI. After graduating from high school, Jim attended The University of Michigan where he earned a degree in education. What Jim thought would be a temporary position as an insurance adjuster turned into a lifetime career as an agent. “Working directly with people to safeguard their property, income and lives is very rewarding. I have personally been involved in helping families recover from catastrophic losses such as a total loss of a home and the accidental death of a breadwinner,” said Jim. When Jim isn’t working he loves spending time as a spectator and a participant in a variety of sports, with a special love for golf. Jim has lived in Fenton for 40+ years where he has been involved in community service clubs such as the Jaycees and Kiwanis, and he has served on the Fenton City Council.
